THE government has been urged to review the film industry so as to enable local artists benefit from the profession.

Kaole art group's artist, Vicent Kigosi 'Ray' stressed so when introducing to reporters a new film named 'Johari' in Dar es Salaam yesterday.

" A lot of our efforts have gone down the drain because of the failure by the concerned parties to critically review copyright laws in Tanzania, we therefore urge the government to help us so we can benefit from the profession," he said.

Another Kaole artist, Steven Kanumba made the call to Tanzanians to be patriotic and value works presented by local artists.

"This film would challenge other film makers in the country to produce films efficiently," he said.

Kanumba said the film is focusing on the danger facing students who engage in sex prematurely and eventually facing the prospects of contracting HIV/AIDS.

The film has involved 15 actors and actresses, he said. These include Steven Kanumba, Vicent Kigosi (Ray), Fadhili Omary (Mkono), Ali Chaoa (Wota), Blandina Chagula (Johari), Mwanaidi Suka (Mainda), Fatuma Makongoro (Bi Mmanda), Fatuma Mvulla (Bi Lawama) and Mayasa Mrisho (Maya).
