Karume appoints 8 new permanent secretaries

Zanzibar President Amani Karume has appointed eight new permanent secretaries and transferred four others.

The new line up was sworn in on Friday, says a statement from the State House.

Julian Raphael, immediate former PS in Finance and Planning Ministry has been transferred to the President’s Office.

Khamis Omar Mussa becomes new PS in the President’s Office (Planning and Finance), while Ali Rajab Ali becomes PS in the Chief Minister’s Office.

Dr Mohammed Saleh Jiddawi becomes PS in the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare.

Mwalim Ali Mwalim has been appointed PS in the Ministry of Construction, Water, Energy Resources and Land.

Mahadhi Juma Mwalim becomes PS in the Ministry of State (Constitution and Good Governance) while Khalid Mohammed becomes the PS in the Ministry of Labour, Women and Children’s Affairs.

Salmin Senga who served as the deputy principal secretary in the Ministry of Labour, Women and Children Development becomes the new PS in the Ministry of Communications and Transport.

Afani Othman Maalim who prior to his new appointment was senior officer in the Ministry of Labour, Women and Children development based in Pemba, has been appointed PS in the Ministry of Tourism, Trade and Investments.

Omar Othman Makungu retains his post as the Deputy Attorney General (AG) while Msham Abdallah Khamis becomes Deputy PS in the Chief Minister’s Office.

Vuai Iddi Lilla has been appointed PS in the Ministry of Communications and Transport.

The following have retained their positions: Dr Omar Dadi Shajak (Ministry of Information, Sports and Culture), Rahma Mshangama (Agriculture and Livestock Development), Abdulhamid Yahya Mzee (Education and Vocational Training) and Hassan Hajji Wambi (Regional Administration and Isles Security Units).
