Tanzania High Commission in Washington is closely following up investigations into the deaths of two Tanzanians killed in Michigan, United States, the parliament was told yesterday.

The Tanzanians - Walter and his fiance Vonetha were pursuing studies when they were killed last September.

Minister of State, Prime Minister’s office, Juma Akukweti responding to a supplementary question asked by Anne Kilango Malecela (CCM East Same), said: ”The government will continue to follow up and ensure that the culprits are arrested and taken to court,” he said.

Malecela wanted to know why the culprits have not been brought to justice.

Akukweti said recently, accompanied by the Minister for states, Presidents Office, Hawa Ghasia, they visited the Tanzanian embassy in Washington to follow up the matter.

”We were told investigations are in progress,” he said.

Earlier, the Deputy Minister for East African Cooperation, Dr. Diodorus Kamala, when responding to a question by Dr. Samuel Malecela (CCM Mtera) said the government has communicated with security organs in USA .

He called on the people to be patient as US security organs were investigating the matter.
