Tanga company donates Tshs. 12 million cement

TANGA Cement Company (TCC) has donated 65 tonnes of cement worth Tshs. 12.5 million to three institutions in Tanga to support developmet projects.

The company's communication manager, Kate Kelenge, said an institution invoved in preserving coastal environment got five tonnes of cement to enable it build a patrol centre at Sahare in the Tanga municipality.

Atwaar English medium primary school got 10 tonnes for building more classroms.

A Pingoni youth development project received 50 tonnes for building a recreational hall at Pongwe in the municipality.

According to Kate, TCC supports local community development projects. Such activities should be initiated by people themselves.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, the Tanga municipal natural resources officer Musa Dengu, thanked the TCC's management for its frequent assistance to local community development projects.

He said by so doing the company was implementing the government policy of alleviating poverty. He added that TCC was an example of investors needed by Tanzanians in a drive towards lessening poverty.
